Most students will need the Basic Driver Improvement option. This option is for students that have received a ticket and have elected to take a Driver Improvement Course.

1. 4 Hour Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) - Students who are completing this course to avoid points, insurance penalties (in most instances) and/or to retain a “safe driver” status in accordance with requirements outlined in Section 318.14(9), Florida Statutes, will select the “BDI” option. Typically, in order to ensure that a completion will be acceptable to the Clerk of Court in the county where the citation (ticket) was issued, the citation recipient must sign an Affidavit with the Clerk of the Court in the county where you received the ticket. It is the students responsibility to return the completion certificate to the clerks office.

2. 4 Hour Traffic Collision Avoidance Course (TCAC) - students referred to as “TCAC” are completing this course in accordance with the requirements outlined in Section 322.0261, Florida Statutes, stating that persons involved in certain types of traffic crashes must attend a TCAC/BDI course. Referrals to this course are typically accompanied by a notification in the form of a letter sent to the driver licensee's address on record at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Students referred to TCAC courses will, in most instances will be required to remit a copy of their completion certificate to DHSMV.

3. 4 Hour Court Ordered Students - students sent to the course via court order in most instances will be required to remit a copy of their course completion certificate directly to the applicable court. Floridadrivingschools.com will provide each student with a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the course.

4. 4 Hour Insurance Discount - In accordance with Florida Statutes, a discount up to 10% of an automobile insurance policy premium may be offered to a policy holder who completes a BDI course certified by the Florida DHSMV as effective for these purposes. If you are completing our course for this purpose, we strongly recommend that you check with your insurance company to determine if they are offering a discount under this section. Persons completing the course for this purpose will receive a Certificate of Completion for presentation to their insurance company or authorized agent.

5. 4 Hour Business and Industry - Many private companies and government agencies require that an employee who operates a company vehicle must complete a research proven effective driver improvement program such as the American Safety Institute Driver Improvement as an ongoing condition of employment. If you have been referred to our course for these purposes, please select the “Business and Industry”. Persons completing the course for this purpose will be sent a Certificate of Completion at the successful conclusion of the course.
